SGE Blog July 5, 2006
I have only been trying to get stuff published since September 2005. It is a crazy ride. Between regular submissions and contests, I have been getting use to the letters saying that your poems are not accepted ,but I keep marching on. Just a few days ago I finished my fifth manuscript and still I am sending individual poems. At times, I want to pull my hair out, trying to come up with an idea. Other times, there is smoke bellowing from my ears. This day is the start of my new website.
July 11, 2006
I am looking forward to going to the shore. Since I finished the fifth manuscript, I have been taking a little break. This weekend, I want to relax, along the Cape May Canal, walk on the boardwalk, see the beach, and ocean. I am hoping to get more ideas, being at the shore. It is my home away from home.
July 12, 2006
As tears pour down my face again, pain runs through my body. I received a phone call telling me that my uncle passed away. There were so many wonderful memories and conversations we had. He had a heart like a teddy bear.
July 15, 2006
I did make it to the shore. A friend and I walked along the Cape May Canal. We saw jellyfish in the water and small crabs crawling on the beach. It was wonderful to get away from everyday stress. Just hearing the crashing waves, again. Still, I was still trying to deal with losing my uncle.
July 22, 2006
In one of my manuscripts, Erratic Behavior, I wrote a poem called Missy. There was a phone call received today. She had passed away from melanoma; she was only twenty seven.
July 24, 2006
Missy's funeral was very sad. It was a little different from the traditional funeral. There were many poems and stories read for Missy by her family and close friends. Missy wanted it to be quick at her funeral and to have an Irish wake, so the family rented out a local bar down the street.
Missy request that no flowers be sent to her funeral, but just for everyone to help someone else.

I just sit back and think. My first fifty page manuscript, "Consumed by Nature" was mostly written, years ago. The rest of the manuscripts, "Wildwood & Beyond...","Tuk-Tuks, Sampans, and Chopsticks","You are so punked up. You don't even want to see it", and "Erratic Behavior", were written, since September 2005. I am still surprised my brain hasn't exploded. Still, I have been thinking about different ideas for more manuscripts and individual poems, short stories, and essays for submission. At times, I still wonder how I got here? I have been writing on and off for years, usually for personal or romantic reasons. Plus, I love to write.
July 30, 2006
We took a day trip to Wildwood. First, we sat the beach; then we went into the cool ocean. We spent a few hours there. Then we sat near the pool at a hotel, right near the beach. It was a relaxing day.

It never seems to amaze me that people can take a conversation and twist it around. They make it seem like they didn't twist your words and change the whole meaning of your conversation.
August 04, 2006
My friends and myself went to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. We relxed when we got there. Then we took the water taxi to Fells Point. I watch the water flow on the way. We went to a few nightclubs. Then we took the water taxi back to where we started. We walked to Power Plant Live.
August 05, 2006
We walked around the Inner Harbor and went into the World Trade Center in Baltimore. I was a wonderful sight of the city. Later, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe, had a few drinks, and listened to a live band. Then we went back to the Power Plant Live.
August 12, 2006
My girlfriend and I went to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. This was my second weekend here, but we only went for a day trip. It is interesting to go to the Baltimore World Trade Center and see Baltimore from an aerial view.
August 18, 2006
It is weird how the past can influence me. There have been many things that I have put in the back of my mind, but some surface from time to time and other just remain. I still believe that there is a strong message in my poem "Changing Tides" on http://www.lovepoetry.com. As the waves crash, I must still move on if I want to or not, but the mystics of the ocean still remains and glows in my heart.
For a little change in pace, check out my page on myspace - http://www.myspace.com/scottgranteckert

It has been interesting. The people you can meet when you are trying to do something full hearted. Since I have started to publish, I have had people help me out in all steps of the way. I am thankful for all their help and for just meeting new people.
August 25, 2006
I sit and wait to down to Wildwood for the last time this season. I think. Still, I just want to have a relaxing weekend at the shore. I have been taking a break from writing. I have writing and sent out poems or stories here and there. I just want to go to the campground and relax for the weekend.
August 26, 2006
My girlfriend and I sat around the campground. It was great. We did go visit her parent at the hotel they work at. Still, it was very peaceful to see the ocean. Then relax in the campground.
I am thinking about college. My starting date has been changed from September to January. This will give me time to organize my writing better.
*** Notice, I apologize for any submissions on the Write Me page before August 18, 2006. There was a technical difficulty with the page, but it has since been fix. If you had any questions or comments, please resubmit them.***
It is going to take me a little time to get use to this.
August 28, 2006
It is interesting that you can see someone you haven't seen for years and the good or bad feelings flow to the surface when you see them. Next, I am wondering how a person can tell if you are confident or not. Is it in the body language? When I was in Delaware, someone made a comment and said I looked confident. It just stuck in my mind...
September 07, 2006
I know I have been getting the rejection letters for the poetry, but now I get one from a college in Fort Lauderdale. I applied for their DBA program and it was the worst mess. I sent them my resume five times. They lost it four times. I took the GMAT and sent it to the University and they changed computer systems. I was fed up. I processed most of my paperwork. The girl on the phone said I might be rejected. At that time, I just started looking for a new university for the DBA program. The new university I am looking to go to is on my bio page.
Next, I have some new poems that are on www.writerscafe.org. Right now, I have The "Forbidden" Ocean and the "Journey of the Irish Spirit", which is more a story.
September 11, 2006
On this day, there were just thoughts of New York and the twin towers. Still the tears flow for the people that were lost five years ago. Memories of this tradegy still linger in my mind.
I received my acceptance letter for the DBA Program at Argosy University. I am looking forward to starting my studies in January.
September 19, 2006
Today, I added "Welcome to the New City of Tombstone" to writescafe.org and to this site. I, also, posted "Pastel Clouds and Hopeful Dreams" to my Myspace Blog - http://blog.myspace.com/scottgranteckert
September 21, 2006
Hi, Everyone - I want to thank everyone that has visited this site. On this day, I became the feature writer on writescafe.org for this day.
October 13, 2006
I have been taking a break for a little while. I have been editing a manuscript, so I can start sending it out at the beginning of year. Soon, I will be adding more poems to writescafe.org, myspace, and this site. Plus, I need some rest because of me starting my Doctoral Degree at the beginning of the year.
One other thing, a smile is worth the world. In some of my poems, they are simple, but if they make you smile. It did it's job. If another person can make you smile, that is just priceless....
October 16, 2006
This was interesting. My poem, "Dearth & Daggered", was the feature poem on writerscafe.org. At the present time, my poem The "Forbidden" Ocean has been doing well in the ranking...
October 21, 2006
I released "Lying Beside You" and "Just Friends" on writerscafe.org. "Lying Beside You" was written years ago and has been revised and edited. "Just Friends" is a newer poem.
October 26, 2006
I opened the mail box to see that I got the Alabama State Poetry Society Anthology. I was wondering which poem they published and it was "No Treasure".
November 3, 2006
It has been interesting. Still, as I continue to try to publish poems, I still find help here and there. There are a lot of wonderful people across the globe and I have tried to help people in turn.
It puts a smile on my face to see how many people enjoy my poems.
I was ask the question," What is art?", so I am passing the question on to you.
I miss painting, scratch board, pastels, chalks, pencil, charcoal, and other mediums I have used. I have been about seventeen years since I have did any artwork. I want to find some time to get back to it.
As time moves on, it seems like all the arts just seem to be connected together for me. Since I have been writing more constantly, I have felt happier.
Just meeting some many talented people either published with one or multiple books or someone just started out.
My happiness comes from creativity.
November 11, 2006
On this day, my poem "Lying Beside You", was the Featured Poem on WritersCafe.org.
I am editing a manuscript at the moment.
November 18, 2006
It is another bright and sunny day. Today, my poem "Just Friends" is the Featured Poem on WritersCafe.Org. A few days before, I released "Warmhearted Memories" and on the non-serious side, I released lyrics, "My Country Song".
I think most of December is going to be taken up with the final editing of the manuscript that I am working on. Plus, the holidays and my birthday are coming up soon.
Isn't it warm outside,yet?
November 27, 2006
I have been trying to relax a little bit. I start college in January.
On this day, The "Forbidden" Ocean poem was the Featured Poem...

I landed in Chicago for my Doctoral Residency... I only had a little amount of time to go see things, so I choose to see the Sear Tower. One of the pictures on my splash page is from the Sears Tower. It was an amazing sight from the top, but it did give me memories of being in the World Trade Center building in New York when I was going up the elevator. The memories were when I was 18.
